For this reason, the Lakshmi-Narasimhadeva temple on the hilltop has deities of Narasimha in all five forms embedded in stone in the main cave. Yada Maharishi begged Narasimha to remain on the hill in these forms. Being pleased with his penance lord appeared before him and manifested himself in five forms: Jwaalaa Narasimha, Gandabheranda Narasimha, Yogananda Narasimha, Ugra Narasimha and Lakshmi Narasimha. Temple legendĪccording to Skanda Purana, Yada Maharishi son of venerated Maharshi Rishyasringa performed penance here to Lord Vishnu as Narasimha. In 2016 a large expansion and rebuilding of the temple began. In the sanctum of this hill temple Jwala Narasimha, Gandaberunda Narasimha (without an image) and Yoga Narasimha are held in worship, in addition to a silver image of Lakshmi Narasimha and a shrine to Aandaalamma. They later manifested themselves into finely sculpted forms that later came to be worshiped as Pancha Narasimha Kshetram. Impressed with his penance, Lord Narasimha appeared before the sage and took five Avatars known as Jwala Narasimha, Yogananda Narasimha, Ugra Narasimha, Gandaberunda Narasimha and Lakshmi Narasimha. According to the legend, Sri Yadava Maharishi son of Sri Rushyashrunga Maharishi had performed great penance for Lord Narasimha Swamy.
